After we completed the hiking trip of Mount Kerinci last year, we were contemplating to plan for another hiking for next year. Hence, we plan for hiking trip to the highest peak of Java Island, The Majestic Mount Semeru. This trip will be complemented with trip to Bromo and Tumpak Sewu Waterfall. Not much hype for almost a year then when the time has come, we made our preparation quite a rush.
The journey from KLIA2 to Juanda International Airport, Surabaya took approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes and after we have safely landed, we rush for a lunch at a restaurant near airport named Ikan Bakar Cianjur (IBC) Pondok Tempo Doeloe.
Ikan Bakar Cianjur (IBC) Pondok Tempo Doeloe
Ikan Bakar Cianjur (IBC) is a restaurant that serves delectable Sunda Cuisine that ranging from Gurame Bakar, Nila Pesmol, Ayam Bakar, Lele Penyet, Sop Iga, Mie Ayam, Bakwan Campur, Pangsit Goreng, Siomay Basah and many more. Then, we continue our journey to Malang that took around 2 hours through Jalan Tol Surabaya-Malang. The view along the route was breath taking with paddy fields and mountains and the air was fresh. You can feel it straight away.
Then, we travel around Malang and did some shopping time before continue our journey to our homestay named Homestay Belinda at Desa Wringinanom, Poncokusumo.
Our tour leader was Mr Subiyantoro or casually called Bian and was assisted by several guides. The journey took almost 1 hour. At that night, we were briefed by Mas Bian on our journey to Semeru tomorrow’s morning.
On the next day, we start our day with the delicious breakfast served by the homestay owner. The nasi rawon, tempeh and sambal were superb. This area is well known for its Nasi Rawon and we did not find this in Kerinci.
We embark our journey at 7 am and our journey to Mount Semeru has started when we heading to Ranu Pane. It took almost 1 hour. The journey to Ranu Pani was fun with breathaking scenery. I stand all the way behind the jeep to enjoy the view and breath fresh air. We could saw the crater of Mount Bromo along the journey.
